Dog Training, Performance & Art

My dog sometimes(an improvement from using the word "always"-which is what she did when we first got her from the Aussie rescue) rolls onto her back when people bend over to pet her.

Shy? or would that be considered submissive?
What is the difference?
Shy, submissive, scared?
How do you handle the different situations?

She is scared of large things I carry in my arms - laundry basket, bag of groceries, coat, broom etc.

She will nervously, quietly, puff-bark (as I have termed it - more puffing air than making a loud barking sound) at whatever it is she is unsure of &/or tuck her tail , drop her ears and head and slide away from the scary thing.

When doing laundry, I'll take a handful of kibble with me and toss pieces towards her or drop them behind me (if she is following) as I carry the basket through the house. Sometimes I set the basket down and call the other dogs to me for attention and rewards. Sometimes I just ignore her nervousness and carry on as if I don't see or hear anything out of the ordinary.

Can you relate?
